Public Health Rotation

For my public health rotation, I completed 5-weeks at the production center for Madison Metropolitan School District.
Some of the projects I worked on included:
Updating training materials on both the School and Community Summer Food Program
Working with quality assurance to update Summer Nutrition Program Food Safety Standard Operating Procedures
Created a more efficient procedure to label HAACP food items that are repeatedly pulled in/out of the freezer
Attended a Food Council Board meeting that consisted of various city officials involved in Madison's food supply and policy. At this meeting, I observed a presentation on a community orchard for the city.
Observed breakfast and lunch periods at various elementary, middle, and high schools in Madison.
Attended a webinar on Preparing for the Coronavirus: Steps for Foodservice and Restaurant Readiness and created a draft of facility procedures in the case of an COVID-19 outbreak and presented preventative measures at a manager meeting
Attended various department meetings regarding policies & procedures for coronavirus preparation
Designed a poster on information regarding coronavirus and sanitation procedures (pictured below).
Created a training PowerPoint for staff that highlighted the nutritional benefits of the National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs.
